As part of the DFG-funded programme for the retrospective digitalisation of library collections, the BBF has microfilmed and digitised a large number of educational journals and reference works.
This means that the journal containing the essay is cuurently being worked on and cannot be used. Please compare the list of journals (see above) with the journals or volumes of journals currently available.
All essays and articles in the journals and reference works can therefore be read in the form of electronic documents. They can be accessed in two ways:

1.
Database search for authors or title keywords of essays or articles.
2.
Three levels access through

A. list of journals,
B. list of years of publication of a journal or index of volumes in the case of reference works,
C. contents of one year of journal issues or contents of a selected volume in the case of reference works.

Access 1:
Database search for authors or title keywords of essays and articles
Two search masks are available

1. Search through database index
Index 1: names of individuals.
All authors of the digitised essays are recorded in this index. A search in index 1 is useful if, for example, you are unsure about the spelling of an author's name.

Index 3: words (title and keywords).
This index lists all words from essay titles, except articles, prepositions etc.

Index 4: book titles.
This index title should more correctly be 'essay titles'. Index 4 is useful when searching for the specific title of an essay. You must omit any articles at the beginning of the title so, in order to search for "Die Psychologie des Jugendalters" for example, the entry should be "Psychologie des Jugendalters".

2. Search via logical combinations
You can search for authors of essays or for title keywords using the second search mask. The result of this database search is displayed as a short title list of a maximum of fifteen titles. You then select one or more titles by clicking in the box to the left of the title of interest. This selection titles are then displayed with their detailed bibliographic descriptions and underneath there are the following links:
1. Link to document
Clicking on this link leads you to the image of the first page of the essay you're looking for.
2. Contents of the journal
Displays the contents of one year of journal issues or the index of one volume.
3. Order copy

Access 2:

The first level displays a list of magazines with all journal or reference works titles that are already available for use. Each entry serves as a link. On the next level the years of publication available or volumes of the title selected previously are listed as links. After selecting one year of publication or a volume, the contents are displayed together with the page numbers. By selecting a link in the virtual table of contents, the first image will appear on screen.
Please note that this project is still in progress. This means that the current list of journals and reference works is not complete. As soon as all essays of one journal or articles of one reference work are entered in the database, this item is added to the list and thus becomes available for use.
